First place in Sprint 3 of 2020 Differential Privacy Temporal Map Challenge
A team led by N-CRiPT PI Associate Professor Xiao Xiaokui, and in collaboration with researchers from Alibaba Group, won the first place in Sprint 3 of 2020 Differential Privacy Temporal Map Challenge. The challenge was organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
The aim of the challenge was to develop algorithms that maintained data utility to maximum extent possible while protecting individual privacy. For Sprint 3, participants worked on taxi records from Chicago to build de-identification algorithms whose output is synthetic, privatized dataset that maintained patterns in original data.
